Life is busy and time is precious… At Cairns Auto Works, we understand this, which is why we strive to make your life easier by providing efficient, accurate vehicle service every time. We know that getting a Roadworthy inspection and certificate for your vehicle is an annoyance that you would prefer to avoid. It takes up time and costs you money, but unfortunately, there are times when you are legally required to have a roadworthy certificate done.
In Queensland, you must obtain a roadworthy or safety certificate for your vehicle when you want to sell it. You also need to get the inspection and certificate if you move interstate into Queensland, and need to register your car in Queensland.
Unfortunately, a roadworthy certificate doesn’t last forever. If you are selling your vehicle privately, your roadworthy or safety certificate is valid for 2 months or 2000kms, whichever comes first.
A roadworthy inspection and certificate cover the basic safety issues that could affect the safe operation of a vehicle, including:
A roadworthy certificate is a basic safety check in accordance with Queensland Transports Code of Practice. It is not an inspection of the mechanical ability of the vehicle. It is a check that the car passes minimum safety standards. A pre-purchase inspection, on the other hand, is a comprehensive mechanical report of a vehicle. It is always a good idea to get a pre-purchase inspection done before purchasing a second-hand vehicle.
Cairns Auto Works is conveniently located in the Cairns CBD. All of our roadworthy inspections are performed by qualified mechanics. We pride ourselves on providing friendly, personalised service that gets our customers coming back. Most importantly, we understand how busy you are and will get your roadworthy certificate done as quickly and as efficiently as possible.
