It takes up time and costs you money, but unfortunately, there are times when you are legally required to have a roadworthy certificate done.
In Queensland, you must obtain a roadworthy or safety certificate for your vehicle when you want to sell it. You also need to get the inspection and certificate if you move interstate into Queensland, and need to register your car in Queensland.
Unfortunately, a roadworthy certificate doesn’t last forever. If you are selling your vehicle privately, your roadworthy or safety certificate is valid for 2 months or 2000kms, whichever comes first.
